Pouilly-Fuissé | Les Prâles
The wine: A distinguished first nose, typical of the terroir, with sophisticated ageing: spicy overall, evolving into a very sophisticated resinous note. A broad attack for this powerful wine, but with a fresh, full flavour and well-controlled opulence. The finish is precise, the flavour noble, and the length proverbial. A wine for ageing!
The terroir: Area: 0.16 ha. Year of planting: 1974.
South, south-east facing plot. Terroir based on deep, complex calcareous colluvial soils at the bottom of the slope. Complex composition: brown calcareous substrate, silty-clay, then orange clay, non-calcareous.
Vinification: Whole bunch pressing, cold static settling. Long ageing for 23 months, 30% of which for ten months in French oak barrels with a very fine grain and the rest in Wine Globe. Bottled according to the lunar calendar. No filtration.
