Mâcon-Fuissé

The wine: The little brother of Pouilly-Fuissé Héritage, it offers a nobly toasted nose, then opens up to reveal fresh, minty fruit. The palate is smooth and rich, yet fresh and salty, with a vibrant finish. A wonderful introduction to the Fuissé terroir.

The terroir: Year planted: 1987. Mainly volcanic sedimentary soils: sandstone, volcanic tuff, but also sandy loam and sandy clay.

Vinification: Whole berries are pressed, followed by cold static settling. Long ageing for 19 months, 10% of which is for nine months in 100% French oak barrels with very fine grain, the rest in stainless steel vats. Bottled according to the lunar calendar with low filtration.
