Mâcon-Verzé
The wine: Aromas of mirabelle plum, aniseed and fennel. A soft, mellow attack for this rich, tense, broad and smooth wine. A juicy, savoury finish. A seductive wine.
The terroir: covering the village of Verzé, this microclimate is a kind of natural immersion: a wide opening provides excellent ventilation for the vineyard; the fauna and flora of the nearby woods preserve the original harmony of the area. Dark brown soils derived from chalky white limestone (from the Jurassic period), thin to medium-deep, clayey and very calcareous. Slightly sloping, well-drained.
Vinification: pressing of sorted, healthy and whole berries, static cold settling. Long ageing for 20 months, 10% of which is for nine months in French oak barrels with a very fine grain, and the rest in stainless steel vats. Bottling according to the lunar calendar, with low filtration.
