Mâcon-Fuissé | Bois de la Croix

The wine: in this climate, it expresses smoky accents, which precede a palate that is both refined and broad, tender and juicy, smooth: the terroir is very clear here. Note the sparkling and tangy character of the finish, which hints at Pouilly.

The Terroir: Year of planting: 1987. Soils are mainly volcanic-sedimentary: sandstone, volcanic tuff, but also sandy-loam and sandy-clay. The rock appears at a depth of 30-40 cm and the roots descend along the vertical faces of the prisms to a depth of over 150 cm. Some areas are covered with siliceous limestone gravel.

Vinification: Pressing of sorted, healthy, whole berries, cold static settling. Long ageing for 19 months, including 10% for 9 months in French oak barrels with a very fine grain, and the rest in stainless steel vats. Bottling according to the lunar calendar, with low filtration.
